. >>> back home, happening now, crews in san jose at the scene of an early morning fire at a mobile home park. you've been there since 4:30, what's happening? >> that's about the same time that the fire started here at the manner mobile home mark, you can see that firefighters are still here on the scene, they're able to put out the fire, about 15 minutes ago and now they're investigating. to get more information, i'm joined by reggie williams what appears to have happened? >> the fire is under investigation. we have multiple calls of smoke coming from mobile homes some did try to knock on the door and had no answer. there was a fear there could have been victims inside. we requested an ambulance and upgraded our response. we were able to force entry into the mobile home and extinguish the fire >> do we know what started it? >> the firefighters are still in the overhaul process >> it looks like the mobile homes are parked close to each other. i don't know, a lot of people said that it's a very old mobile home park and they had concerns, is it lucky that it didn't spread? >> yeah, it's tighten

cover, mild lows, 54, oakland and san jose, moisture sources, we willhave some breaks later on but right now cloudy and mild, mostly cloudy and mild and will return more showers in nature and there is too much cloud cover to keep us warm after the system comes through we'll see better conditions testimony. if we can get a half inch of rain that would be great. two bits to about a half inch of rain should cover the wettest locations. i think a 10th of an inch to a third will cover the forecasted area. still plenty of cloud cover and i think we will get a few breaks in the clouds but in the morning off and and on light rain. 54 in oakland santa rosa concord 50 degrees, cloud cover is and coming straight up from the southwest almost equity tore you' all region -- southwest in that area. a little cooler temperatures but low-to-mid 60s and there is too much cloud cover for anybody to warm up and we will warm up with patchy low clouds and after that it looks dry and breezy and warmer still mostly sunny and wild on monday : >>> there is a bailout dale on the department of cyprus. they seem to t

. there are no major problems on the bridge. this morning if you are driving in san jose we're off to a pretty good starlet. the weekend weather let's go to rosemary. >>> you can't complain. the only gripe would be no rain. outside of that just a minor cool down in store for your weekend. giving you a look here let's start with the satellite reradar. notice the high clouds continue across the area. patchy fog developing this morning. i don't think it will be as bad as the last couple of days. as you get out to your morning drive i want to back it up here. we have a ridge of high pressure in place. we have that nice arch going on. you don't see it here. we have zonal flow developing. we have cooler air coming into the area. the two combined mixed with the high clouds we will see the temperatures continue to trend downward. with that in mind i'll say we'll remain above average. let's take a look at the fog. i'm seeing it along the coastline. just inside the bay. napa reporting visibility four to six miles so it is out there. although as we get into the 7:00 hour it's not as wide spread. so there is g

woke up with an intruder standing over her bed. janine de la vega is live in san jose to tell us more about the suspect and what they reportedly found on him when he was or rested. january seen in? -- janeane? >> reporter: you can see they have been investigating for the last two hours and a registered sex offender was standing over a woman and his intentions were unknown. a 52-year-old woman said she was sleeping and woke up to find a male intruder standing over her bed. she told police she screamed and he ran away. she described him as having a bald head and they set up a perimeter and they ended up spotting him trying to escape the perimeter. >> is he a sex offender with the state of california and is on parole for burglary. he has done this before obviously because when we stopped him, he had a cell phone app with the police frequencies as we were setting up the perimeter. we did find women's underwear and we are not sure if it was hers because her daughter is out of town. >> reporter: police have identified the suspect as ryan cancel of san jose. he was wearing an ankle brace let

, they are recovering evidence from the scene. san jose police are driving in unmarked cars and spotted a stolen car and tried to stop it. they used lights and sirens so the suspect could tell they were police but that's when they rammed the police cars and a parked vehicle. one got out of their car and that's when the suspect accelerated. >> the officer fleeing for his life ended up crashing into a vehicle. ems was immediately summoned, suspect was transported to the hospital where he died of his injuries. >> there was a passenger in the suspect vehicle and he is being treated as a witness and is being cooperative. it is unknown if he will be charged with anything. right now we know they are adult males. we don't know why they didn't want to be stop by police other than the fact that they were driving a stolen car. we will have more information on that and no officers were injured neither were any of the people in the neighborhood. again police investigators from the sheriff's department are still out here and they are interviewing people in the neighborhood and this is all being handled by the she

to the hospital, we're told he's recovering. no arrests have been made. >>> 5:04. san jose city council will debate a homeless proposal days after clearing out a large encampment. we are live with a look at what the leaders will be considering. >> some people cleared out of the encampment near the airport have moved down to the creek beds, like this one here, near the guadelupe river. city officials are going to take this issue head-on after last week's cleanup of the encampment near coleman and heading, members of the city council have been coming up with ways to stop encampments else there. only a small portion of those there accepted help from outreach agencies. a plan has been described as a tough love approach when it comes to enforcing a no trespassing policy, the city is hiring a security company to patrol the encampment. we looked to see if anyone had come back but the land was clear. you're looking at a live picture in downtown san jose, very close to the hp pavilion with homeless people sleeping on the bench. some moved to the creek beds, they have scattered, but at 6:00 we'll

in california. >>> time is 5:04. tomorrow the san jose city council is expected to approve a $7 million incentive package for samsung. the deal was outlined back in august at this city hall ceremony with governor jerry brown, mayor chuck reed, and samsung executive. the city of austin, texas by the way offered similar incentives in an effort to get samsung to move there. >>> after seven long years and spending millions of dollars the new devil's slide tunnels are set to open today. alex savidge is there where a ceremony is scheduled in a couple hours. alex. >> reporter: this is certainly a relief to people who drive this stretch of roadway. later on today crews are set to unvail these two new tunnels. you can see the sign right now says tunnel closed. but in just a matter of hours folks will be driving through there. this will be the highway 1 bypass at devil's slide. this is a $400 million project that features two bores through the mountain. the tunnels allow drivers to avoid a section of highway 1 that has been notorious for rock slides and mud slides. it has closed the road months a

are following breaking news in san jose. a fatal accident happened on monterey road and that's in south san jose and some lanes had to be shut down. ktvu channel 2 morning news janine de la vega is monitoring the police investigation and the traffic situation at this point, janeane? >> reporter: pam, this is a horrific accident and you can see behind me this is completely crushed and the red ford focus is completely crushed and it somehow went out of control and landed in the bushes. this is near the plant shopping center. it took out a light pole and you can see how the pole is completely down on its side. now the traffic team is here and they are here on monterey highway and they are investigating and they have blocked it off between curt her and stover. they found the vehicle with major damage and he was suffering from life-threatening injuries and there was nothing paramedics could do and the man died at the scene. he was driving at a high rate of speed when again he lost control of the car and the car ended up hitting two trees before landing in the bushes and people heard the crash but at
